No more need to bring DVDs for kids during long car trips: Audiovox and FLO TV announced Wednesday, that will soon be possible to watch live television on the road.

“The live television in car has long been a challenge for the automotive industry, given the difficulty of offering a quality and coverage without interruption in a moving vehicle, especially in urban environments - up to now,” said Audiovox , one day before the opening of the large electronics fair CES in Las Vegas.

The U.S. electronics manufacturer said it was associate with FLO TV to offer this feature to FLO TV, a company which already allows to watch live television on mobile phones of U.S. carriers AT & T and Verizon.

“We believe the combination of this technology and our products will bring the board in car entertainment to another level, to change channels with a single button, like at home,” said AudioVox president Tom Malone.

This should be on sale at an unspecified date, on dealers and distributors of car accessories.

The U.S. mobile manufacturer Motorola, reveals today the first the first mobile phone made from recycled plastic bottles.

For Motorola, the MOTO W233 Renew provides an eco-friendly design without compromising on the quality of the model. The Renew is a mobile phone made from recycled plastic bottles from water and, according to its manufacturer, the first mobile phone to the principle of carbon neutrality.

In association with the Carbonfund organization, Motorola has followed a protocol to reduce emissions of CO2 during the conception and distribution.

“From product design to the packaging, through our partnership with Carbonfund.org, we wanted to ensure that this unit has a positive impact on consumers and the environment,” said Jeremy Dale, a Vice-President, Motorola Mobile.

Motorola also offers a green package for the phone, reducing its size by 22% utilizing 100% recycled post-consumer. The manufacturer has also added an envelope in which the consumer can drag his old machine to be recycled.

Renew is the first available from T-Mobile USA in 1st quarter 2009.

For some time, we see a thinning of high-definition televisions from the electronics manufacturers.

We just learn that Korean firm, LG, will present to Consuming Electronic Show (CES), which will be held very soon in Las Vegas, a very thin LCD television.

Called LH95, this one is 24,8 millimeters thick.

This television, (don’t know the diagonal yet) uses LED technology. Yes, it’s right, this one does not function with the OLED technology which already produce very thin screens.

Elsewhere, according to LG, this television is the thinnest in the world. The contrast rate of the LH95 is 2 000 000: 1 with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, due to TrueMotion.

It seems innovating, because according to LG, their TV would have already won the prestigious CES Innovation Award, like the name said, for the innovation of a technology product.

If you want to assist to the CES to see this product of your own eyes, that event will be held of January 8, 2009 in Las Vegas.

For the price… hum, expect something little bit expensive!

The scanners, of course, were good, for years, but we must be patient. And often, scanner apparatus was expensive. So, there is an extremely economic solution and, especially, extremely rapid.

From Audio ION, the SLIDES 2 PC ($99) are a USG gadget made up with a 5 megapixels scanner and four optical glass elements.

The manufacturer promises a scan speed between one and two seconds.

The SLIDES 2 PC are equipped with an exposure and color correction control to avoid the final improvements.

The SLIDES 2 PC are sold around $99 and you can buy it directly on the ION audio website.

According to the rumour, Microsoft would prepare to announce the compression from 10 to 17% of its staff. The company, which counts 91 000 employees everywhere in the world, will launch the first beta public of Windows 7, it’s new OS, at the beginning of the month and will announce it’s quarterly results on January 22.

Always according to the rumour, the cutback should be announced about on January 15, between the two events.

One good thing: if they announced before beta of Windows 7, launching would attract less attention, and the announce of quarterly results would allow to justify the measure on the employees.

According to some sites, the decisiona have already been announced to the employees concerned. However, according to the law, Microsoft should have published the news at the latest 24 hours after they have announced to employees.

If the rumour is true, this would be a premiere. From it’s beginning, Microsoft had never made compression in employees staff. No comments were made by Microsoft.

It seems that even the Google is not safe from the omnipresent economic recession, whose pessimism is also felt at the dynamic companies of Silicon Valley.

Instead of the traditional bonus of end of the year - the employees received 1 000$ last year -, it’s rather a G 1 mobile phone that employees received this year at Google.

G1 is new intelligent cellular functioning under Android, the free software platform developed by the search engine.

“The holiday bonus is a tradition at Google - it is an excellent way of thanking everyone for its excellent work. Traditionally, we did that while giving a profit out of money to our employees. This year, we decided to give a different gift to them, that is to say a ” Dream phone” ”, the British daily newspaper London Times wrote, quoting internal email of the company.

G1 personalized will be given to the employees of Google based in the United States, in Canada, in Central Europe and of the West, in Australia, in Singapore and Japan, which count for some 85% of the 20 123 employees of the search engine.

The memorandum also identifies 17 countries where G1 does not function, in particular Brazil, Russia, India and China. The employees of these countries will receive approximately 400$, the value of cellular, as holiday bonus.
